Explore the wonders of the humble weed

Discover the beautiful botany and fascinating ecology of some of our most overlooked wild species, the ‘weeds’.

Our relationship to these wild plants has changed throughout history. What place do weeds have in our urban parks, and what lessons can we learn from them?

Choose from either a leisurely walk or an allotment workshop:

Guided Walks

Wednesday 21 May & Saturday 14 June in The Regent’s Park

This session will last up to 2 hours and will involve a gentle walk through the wilder areas of our park, followed by a visit to the Wonderful Weeds bed in our allotment garden and a taste of historic Dandelion 'coffee'.

Please note: the walk starts at the Park Sports Café and ends in the Allotment Garden in The Regent’s Park.

Allotment Workshops

Sunday 25 May in Kensington Gardens

This session will take place solely in the allotment garden in Kensington Gardens and lasts up to 1.5 hours. We will explore the allotment beds looking for hidden ‘weeds’. Participants will enjoy a hands-on identification activity exploring common wild plants, followed by a freshly made herbal tea or a taste of historic Dandelion 'coffee'.

The allotment has paved level or compacted gravel paths and opportunities to sit, so is a more accessible option than our standard Wonderful Weeds Walks for those with limited mobility . It is open to all ages and abilities. Please do let us know in advance if you have any particular access needs and we will accommodate these wherever possible.
