Loyd Grossman, CBE, re-appointed The Royal Parks’ Chairman for second term
Loyd Grossman CBE, FSA, has been appointed for a second four-year term as Chairman of The Royal Parks (TRP).
In 2016, Loyd was appointed as the first Chairman of TRP, the new charity, which was set up to manage eight Royal Parks and other open spaces in London.
Following a successful transition from a Government Agency to a Charity, the organisation has enjoyed a number of successes including securing a multi-million pound grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to restore, protect and enhance Greenwich Park’s historic and natural heritage; the construction of a ‘super nursery’ in Hyde Park to grow 450,000 plants and shrubs for the world-class bedding displays across the parks each year; the restoration of Brompton Cemetery; and hosting the only major UK installation by renowned artist Christo in Hyde Park’s Serpentine lake.
Loyd’s numerous past appointments include service as a board member of English Heritage, the Museums and Galleries Commission and the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England. He was formerly Chairman of the Churches Conservation Trust and Vice Chairman of the Royal Drawing School.
Following his re-appointment, Loyd Grossman said:
“It’s a great privilege to be continuing as Chairman to care for some of the finest parks in the world. I work with a fantastic team whose expertise and dedication ensures that our 5,000 acres of natural landscape provide beautiful spaces for the millions who visit each year. It’s never been more important to welcome everyone to enjoy our parks to boost mental and physical wellbeing, and we invite our visitors to show kindness to each other and respect to our environment”.
Andrew Scattergood, Chief Executive of The Royal Parks, said:
“Loyd’s extensive experience has been invaluable in steering our first years as a new charity, championing our national heritage and natural environment while driving our organisation forward. I’m delighted to welcome Loyd for a second term and look forward to working with him.”
