Make the most of the shortest day of the year and head to the Winter Solstice Festival at Greenwich Park.
Folk meets science for this special midwinter celebration in Greenwich Park, with live performances, a craft and food market hosted by the Royal Parks, plus live science demos led by Royal Observatory Greenwich astronomers.
This first ever Winter Solstice Festival event will bring together communities in and around Greenwich for a night of festive cheer, creativity, and awe-inspiring performances, making it an unmissable experience.
Festival highlights:
- Explore a vibrant craft market featuring local artisans and creators, offering handmade gifts and seasonal treats
- Learn about the nature and heritage of the park with members of The Royal Parks team, and engage in craft activities
- Join Observatory Explainers for a series of hands-on science demonstrations throughout the afternoon
- Scan the skies through telescopes with astronomers from Royal Observatory Greenwich and learn what we can see in daylight with the Flamsteed Astronomy Society
Visitors will also be able to enjoy spectacular performances by Spark!, an internationally renowned street theatre company. Their live music, movement, and light show will illuminate the winter night with stunning visuals and captivating energy. Spark!’s performances are known for their immersive, larger-than-life experiences, blending theatrical artistry with powerful storytelling.
