Our Volunteering Opportunities

Wildlife Conservation Volunteering

The Royal Parks are havens for wildlife, as well as for people. Conservation volunteering helps keep these amazing spaces full of life, green, and beautiful.

Please help nature thrive in the city. Becoming a wildlife or conservation volunteer is a practical way to help us conserve the extraordinarily rich biodiversity species, habitats and ecosystems in the Royal Parks. With 5,000 acres of parkland, meadows, lakes and ponds, and over 170,000 trees to manage, it’s a big job – and a responsibility we take seriously.

We run drop-in practical volunteer group carrying out a range of habitat management and improvement tasks across the Parks.

Growing & Gardening Volunteering

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve been gardening or growing your own for years, or if you want to try something you haven’t done before. Being a gardening and growing volunteer can feel great. The chance to tend to plants and watch them flourish is particularly rewarding.

You don’t need to be an expert, or have any hands-on gardening experience, just enthusiasm, a love of fresh air and a little bit of exercise. Our expert Royal Parks gardeners are very friendly and always happy to share practical skills and gardening knowledge with everyone who wants to know more.

Our opportunities range from volunteering across many world class horticultural areas, the Hyde Park Super Nursery and our allotments. You can sign up and see which opportunities are currently looking for volunteers by registering on our Volunteer Hub.

Learning & Engagement Volunteering

Volunteering for our learning and engagement programmes is an incredible way to connect with the natural world, or deepen your own understanding of our history and heritage. You’ll be helping visitors get as much out of their visit to a Royal Park as possible.

We’ve got learning volunteering opportunities at our Hyde Park Learning Centre, helping children discover nature. Or you could travel round the parks with our rolling roadshow, joining the volunteers spreading the word about biodiversity and conservation. If you’ve got a natural passion for history and heritage, as well as nature, why not share that with others by volunteering as a walks leader?

You may already have met one of our friendly Volunteer Rangers who roam the parks, revealing new facts to our visitors.

If you love meeting people, love your Royal Parks and want to give something back, take a look at our range of learning and engagement opportunities. They’re a rewarding way to share your passion for your park.

Heritage Volunteering

London’s Royal Parks span over 600 years. They’ve hosted moments that shaped history, acts of protest and scandal.

You could be leading one of our heritage walks and talks, helping curious visitors discover the hidden history and secret past of London’s Royal Parks. We have archaeological volunteering opportunities too and our heritage volunteers have helped dig up prehistoric tools and other amazing artefacts from London’s past.

London is a diverse city, and we welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities and from all cultures and communities. You can sign up and get more information by registering on our Volunteer Hub.
