Fitness training licences

We welcome people of all ages and abilities to use London’s eight Royal Parks to keep fit and enjoy a healthier lifestyle.

About the fitness training licence

Being a Royal Parks licensed fitness operator allows you to work and undertake fitness activities in the unique environment of some of the best known urban parks in the world.

If you want to use the Royal Parks for personal training, or to run group fitness sessions, you must have a fitness training licence, issued by The Royal Parks charity

Why do I need a licence for fitness training in a Royal Park?

The licensing scheme enables The Royal Parks charity to manage and regulate the number of professional fitness trainers who operate in the parks.

We licence operators to ensure that:

  • The parks are protected.
  • All visitors can access and use the public open spaces and parkland.
  • All park visitors can take part in and enjoy fitness training in a variety of outdoor environments.
  • All fitness operators hold appropriate qualifications, based on industry best practice. They must be fully insured and hold liability for the safety of everyone participating.
