The Royal Parks seeks friendly Volunteer Rangers for The Regent's Park
The Royal Parks charity has launched its spring Volunteer Ranger service in The Regent’s Park and is on the hunt for friendly and chatty people that are keen to welcome, inspire and educate visitors to the park.
To coincide with National Volunteer Week, which runs from 3-9 June 2024, recruitment for Volunteer Rangers in The Regent’s Park will open on 3 June 2024.
The charity, which manages London’s eight Royal Parks is looking for up to 35 new people to join its dedicated team of existing Volunteer Rangers, in The Regent’s Park. This marks the park’s second recruitment drive following a successful pilot of the scheme in February last year.
The Volunteer Rangers play a vital role in engaging with park visitors, sharing facts about the park’s heritage, providing tips on the best walking routes, and offering insights on how to support nature conservation in the parks.
Operating in pairs, Volunteer Rangers will have the flexibility to choose from a range of 90-minute volunteering sessions across weekdays and weekends that suit their schedules. Volunteers are encouraged to commit to a minimum of three hours per month.
Volunteer Officer for The Royal Parks, Anna MacLaughlin, said:
“Following the success of our pilot programme in The Regent’s Park last year, we're excited to continue building our team of dedicated Volunteer Rangers. This iconic Grade 1-listed landscape, spanning 410 acres and receiving over eight million visits a year, presents a wonderful opportunity for volunteers to make a meaningful impact.
“Our volunteer community is diverse and passionately committed to preserving and enhancing these treasured green spaces in London and we welcome all applications.
“We’re deeply grateful for the dedication and commitment of all our 4,200 volunteers, across all the Royal Parks who last year alone collectively contributed over 49,000 hours of their time. Thanks to their dedication we are able to continue to preserve these beautiful spaces for everyone to enjoy”.
Applications will open on 3 June at 10:00am and will close on 30 June at 5:00pm. Full training will be given.
