Primrose Hill to close at 10pm on New Year’s Eve
This New Year’s Eve Primrose Hill will close to the public at 10pm until 6am on New Year’s Day. Stewards will be placed at the entrances to the park and will be advising visitors to leave the area by 10pm on the night.
London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks will not be taking place, so there will be no display to watch on Primrose Hill. The centrepiece of London’s New Year’s Eve celebrations is a live broadcast spectacular showcasing London to the rest of the world and highlighting the most defining moments of 2021.
Londoners and visitors are urged to watch the show safely from their homes on BBC One as it will not be visible from the ground or key locations in the capital.
The Royal Parks is supporting the Metropolitan Police in ensuring that the park does not become a place for large groups to gather at midnight to let off their own fireworks or lanterns, in breach of Royal Parks regulations.
Nick Biddle, Park Manager for The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, said:
“Primrose Hill isn’t suitable for hosting a display or for people to bring their own fireworks or paper lanterns. Fireworks and lanterns are not allowed in any of the Royal Parks, including Primrose Hill.
“In previous years we have been happy for people to respectfully observe the New Year’s Eve fireworks on Primrose Hill. This year the fireworks are not taking place, so we are urging those looking to enjoy the broadcast spectacular to stay in and watch it on the TV.
“We ask that people please respect the park and the surrounding area by not organising a large gathering on Primrose Hill or letting off your own fireworks or lanterns.”
