Cycling in The Royal Parks
Cycling is a fantastic way to explore the 32 miles of road, and 27 miles of cycle paths set in the picturesque landscapes of the Royal Parks. Whether you are commuting, sightseeing or helping little ones take their first ride we welcome all cyclists to the parks.
The safety of all our visitors is important to us and whilst we welcome everyone – whether on two wheels or two feet – pedestrians do have priority. They make up the majority of park visitors and our ‘Transport Principles’ sets out our hierarchy of users. All cyclists therefore have a duty in our parks to enjoy their experience in a way that balances their needs with those of our many other visitors.
Cycling Code of Conduct
Help us keep the parks safe by following our Code of Conduct.

Cycle parking, hire and schemes
You don’t need to own a bike to enjoy cycling through the Royal Parks. TfL cycle hire is available in or near the central Royal Parks and there is also a cycle hire facility in Richmond Park.
Cycling schemes which allow people with disabilities to enjoy the parks on specially modified cycles are licensed through ‘Companion Cycling’ in Bushy Park and ‘Bikeworks All Abilities Club’ in The Regent’s Park. Cycle tour groups are licensed within the central parks for guided tours.
If you have your own bike then cycle parking is provided in key locations within all the parks, generally close to entrances or facilities. Find them on the park maps.

Cycling regulations
Dangerous cycling is an offence under the Road Traffic Act 1988. The parks are not to be used for competitive cycling without prior authorisation from The Royal Parks.
Park visitors, whatever their mode of transport, must comply with The Royal Parks and Other Open Spaces Regulations 1997, and by law must not interfere with the safety, comfort and convenience of others.
